Merlin

I admit it. I fell into a fandom. OK, this isn’t exactly a new place for me to be, considering I taught myself HTML in the late 90s by creating a website devoted to the young Elvis Presley (whose posters still decorate our pool room), and was definitely a TwiMom in Twilight’s heyday. Still, it’s been a while since I’ve fallen as hard for a show as I did for the BBC’s Merlin. Not only are the actors (particularly the adorable Colin Morgan) outstanding, but the weaving of Arthurian legends with an admittedly family friendly but rather CW-esque (read: teenage heart throb) approach hooked me from the start. I love me some Arthurian legends.

I got so inspired that I started a huge Merlin Pinterest board and even wrote three blog posts (originally on my personal blog) about the show. Be aware that they do contain spoilers!

Holy Moses! Is that Merlin?

Merlin and Arthur and Merthur – Oh My! (The Bromance of Merlin and Arthur)

I am Woman: Hear Me ROAR! (Of Guys and Gals and Merlin)

I’ve blathered so much about this show on Facebook and Twitter that several of my friends confessed they checked it out merely because of my fervor – and then they fell in love with it, too. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for? All five seasons are available to stream via Netflix (in the US, at least), so settle in for a binge fest! And let me know what you think.

  1. Love the Blog you shared with us at More Merlin. Excellent writing, love reading about anything having to do with Arthur & Merlin.

    • Thanks so much, Carolyn! I really appreciate and love the positive feedback. And it’s so much fun to connect with other Merlin fans – it’s been a long time since I’ve been this nuts about a TV show!

    • Uh, I have no idea – but I hope you love it! The first season is a bit like Camelot High, but it gets darker and more intense as it goes on. Sure, there’s cheese – but that’s partly why I love it. And Colin Morgan’s acting – wowzers!

  7. How fun! I just picked up A Man of Character (recommended by Grace Burrowes) and saw this post. I think we may be members of the same club. I built my first website in 1995, and in 2004 started a fan site for Viggo Mortensen and Lord of the Rings (brego.net). You have me beat in the Pinterest department … I have only 2200 pins at https://www.pinterest.com/bregonet/boards/. 😉 I hadn’t heard of Merlin but it sounds as though I need to look for it!

  8. Binged it in 4 days and loved it. The ending was not what I expected but definitely a series I have to buy. Characters are great, story line hooks you and keeps you guessing. Loved the knights 😍 they had it all, awesome fighting scenes, humor and a visible friendship.
