Writer Wednesday: Meet Densie Webb!

Posted on July 13, 2016 by Margaret — No Comments ↓

Densie Webb_2013Welcome, welcome, welcome to Writer Wednesday! I hope wherever you are you’re in air-conditioning, because here in Virginia it’s HOT HOT HOT! (Though I suppose if you’re in Australia, AC might not sound appealing today).

But enough of that – I may be sweating it out, but I’m thrilled to bring you romantic suspense writer Densie Webb as our Writer Wednesday author today!

Densie’s here to talk her name (Densie, not Denise), her writing inspirations, and to give us a bit of info about her first book, You’ll Be Thinking Of Me.

What inspires you to write?

MusicButterflyLike most writers, I take my ideas and my inspiration from anywhere I can. There’s a book titled Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. I adhere to his approach.

I get a lot of ideas from song lyrics (I listen to music—all the time), from movies, from books and from television shows. I also get ideas and inspiration from just watching things going on around me while waiting in line for coffee, picking up prescriptions, watching the news, surfing the internet, eavesdropping on conversations.

But I’d have to say that reading wonderful books provides me with the greatest (envy) and inspiration.

Which type of romance do you love most, and why?

Heart shaped book pagesI tend to like stories that have a strong romantic storyline woven into the plot. And I prefer stories in which the characters are seriously flawed and there’s an unpredictable, but satisfying, twist in the plot before reaching the end.

Name one interesting thing you learned in researching/writing your last book.

My novel, You’ll Be Thinking of Me, is about a celebrity stalker. I did quite a bit of research, read several books on the topic and interviewed a psychologist who specializes in stalking. It was creepy and fascinating. Several of the actions taken by the stalker in my book were things that stalkers actually did in real life.

Name two things people don’t know about you.

I have a Ph.D. in nutrition and I’m a registered dietitian.

A Bit on You’ll Be Thinking Of Me

youllbeA chance encounter with a celebrity, an impromptu video, and a shiny new espresso machine. It all added up to a juicy tale for 24-year-old Rachael Allen to share with friends.

But when her best friend posts the video online, bizarre threats, home break-ins, and deadly gifts from an obsessed fan follow close behind.  Mick Sullivan, the star in her video, offers to help and in the process, Rachael discovers that despite his reputation as a player of Olympian caliber, he’s down-to-earth—and emotionally damaged. He has secrets; some he’s shared only with his pseudo best friend. Others he’s shared with no one. But there’s one secret he’s hidden from himself, washed away by too many beers.

Despite wildly divergent life paths, their shared southern upbringing (and a passion for good music) creates a common thread that draws them together. As the threats escalate, and their relationship deepens, Rachael struggles to accept Mick’s past—and his present. And she is forced to confront her own obsessive love to ultimately decide if being with Mick Sullivan is worth the collateral damage.

You’ll Be Thinking Of Me is the story of Rachael’s serendipitous encounter with a celebrity, her brush with obsessive love, and the bittersweet gift left behind by the very person fixated on destroying her life.

A Bit On Densie:

writingDensie Webb (not Denise) has spent a long career as a freelance nonfiction writer and editor. Her debut novel You’ll Be Thinking of Me was released by Soul Mate Publishing. It is available as an ebook, paperback and as an audiobook.

She is an avid walker (not of the dead variety), drinks too much coffee and has a small “devil dog” that keeps her on her toes. The first draft of her second novel is done and she is working on a third novel.
